Finally!
Gzg ECC came and went, and what a fun Con it was. Check out all the action from the AARs here: http://www.warpfish.com/gzgecc/gzgecc18/AAR/index.shtml
Now the snow has finally gone (unless you look really hard) it seems like the whole of Boston is outdoors these days, me too! The garden is waking up, kids are riding bikes and playing soccer and I've even managed to squeeze in a couple of rides.
Wargaming and modelling has been on the back-burner lately, but its time to pick up again. I recently signed up for my first KickStarter, for the Heavy Gear kit from DP9. I'll admit I have a bit of a weakness for blocky stompy mecha. I never got into the man-in-a-suit look of gundam etc, it started with old Robotech/Battletech (Rifleman and MadCat were my fave) and Rogue Trader Dreadnoughts. The early Heavy gear stuff was too expensive, the second wave of smaller gears were more reasonable so I bought some to use as robots/armout suits. Over time I've picked up a nice range of mechs, so its time to use them all in an anime-sytle mecha game.
To play Mecha we need tall terrain, so lets invade this city block
Its a nice slice of a bustling downtown
With well behaved traffic and quaint street cafes
It has no idea what is coming
And the rabble: Class 2 mechs in rear, class 1 Mechs and drones in the front. Its a mix of GZG, DP9, Micropanzer, MechaFront and RalPartha

STOMP, STOMP, STOMP
Three 'character' mechs. L to R, a 'Crusty' Mech (DP9 mech before GZG released their Crusty Mechs), 'Low-Speed, High Drag' (DP9 South, before I decided I preferred the North and CEF suits) and 'Orange Boy' (DP9 converted to represent the boy's mech suit from XCOM Enemy Unknown)And the rabble: Class 2 mechs in rear, class 1 Mechs and drones in the front. Deathmatch in the city is ON!
Your city looks top drawer. Should be a great looking game.
ReplyDeleteI think I spotted some tables and chairs as scatter terrain (left midway up on the top photo), were these scratch built?
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou did spot tables and chairs. The cafe sets are: tables, chars and folks sitting. They came from a 1:100 model railway set
Can you tell me a little more about your buildings? Are they kits? scratch made? Cause they look great and is the same type of look I am going for on my table.
